Glenmore Organic Eggs
Glenmore Farm, Ballyduff
Christine and Seamus Hyland together run the Glenmore Farm and started converting the 80 acre holding just above the Blackwater valley, between Lismore and Ballyduff to organic in 1996.
The bird (egg) business, was initiated in 2009 with encouragement from friends and following the completion of a free range egg production course with Teagasc. They started with 100 hens in a hen house, 100 being the optimum level under organic regulations as it is the natural flocking size for hens. What started as 1 house soon became 4 and a packing station and the birds love the freedom as they can go out all the time.
The organic stock of Lowman Brown and Gold Lines chicks are bought 1 day old and reared at Glenmore Farm and the eggs are sold in shops and markets across West Waterford and East Cork.
