Customer Questionnaire Response
October 2012

Dear Customers,
We would like to take this opportunity to thank those of you who took the time to complete our Customer Questionnaire.
The results have now been calculated and the store received a Customer Satisfaction rating of 96%, a 4% improvement on 2010
All your comments have been noted and all efforts will be made to satisfy all reques
ts.

Entrance:
Overall everyone seemed to be happy with the car-park, entrance and trolley availability. Requests were made to have “Coin Free” trolleys and more parent & disabled parking. Unfortunately for safety purposes “Coin Free” trolleys are no longer a possibility as having to retrieve the coin or token ensures that the trolley is returned and secured in a trolley bay and not left to roll free around the car-park. In regard to the designated parent and disabled parking spaces, we feel that there are more than adequate designated spaces as long as drivers honour the implied request and leave the marked spaces for the intended users.

Fruit & Veg:
A request was made to supply bags adjacent to the banana display: This request has been honoured. A few comments were made in regard to quality at the week-end; this will be investigated and monitored.

Hot Counter:
The comments in this area continue to be mainly in regard to the variety at the hot counter and the less than prompt service in department in general.

Deli:
As with the rest of the store, we are continually trying to improve our overall service and product. We periodically attempt to introduce new lines to the hot counter and have found that some items are more popular than others. The basic lines such as cooked chickens, wedges, sausage rolls and hot dinners etc. are constantly in demand and have to be made available.
In regard to prompt service, staff members in this area always have tasks to complete for the benefit of the customer, whether that be preparing product for sale or cleaning to maintain hygiene standards but it has been made abundantly clear to all that Customer Service is the priority, this has been reiterated following the completion of the questionnaire.
The area will be monitored on an on-going basis by management in an effort to improve.

Bread & Cakes:
In the bakery area the few comments made were in regard to the availability of particular products. Unfortunately prior experience has shown us that there is insufficient demand for some of the Artisan Breads or Fancier Pastries at the earlier stages of the week so they are baked only towards the end of the week.  Evening selections may also be reduced but there will always be at least 1 type of each product available to choose from.

Meat Counter:
Most customers seemed to be happy with our Meat and Fish Counters apart from a few requests for keener prices and more staff to enable faster service, particularly at weekends. In regard to the price we feel we offer a Quality Product at a Competitive Price supplemented by a varied selection of items on Special Offers and “Bundle Deals” specific to Riordans SuperValu.Customer Service tops the list of departmental requirements, and we always attempt to ensure that the busy periods are sufficiently staffed to cope with customer demand, but we also have to control staffing costs in this difficult economic climate. The area will be monitored.

Shop Floor:
More Gluten Free & Diabetic Products were asked for by many. In the last 6 weeks we have extended our Free From Range by 35 products. (25 Gluten Free / 10 Diabetic). We are now stocking the full range readily available to us but if there is an additional particular product you would like us to try and source please talk to Colm Donnellan (Manager)

Off Licence:
½ bottles of wine have been requested: Due to the better value of a full bottle there is very little demand for ½ bottles. If as a customer you require a specific ½ bottle please contact our Off Licence Hero, Michael Louis and he will try to source the product you require.

Checkout:

Some of our customers seem to feel that the service in this area tends to be too slow, particularly in regard to the Sweet Counter. Unfortunately some of the delay is caused by items in place to benefit the customer, such as recording Real Reward Loyalty Points, use of Credit Cards etc and in the case of the Sweet Counter there is the added Lotto & Lottery. The addition of the new 6 Self Scan units has helped alleviate the situation but they are not everyone’s cup of tea. In order to improve and speed up the service we keep note of our usual peak times and staff accordingly – regretfully there are times when it gets unusually busy and delays occur. In this economic climate we have to control our staffing costs and when faced with an unexpected busy period we do our best to alleviate the situation by getting our floor staff to pack at the checkout.  We continue to closely monitor the area.

Coffee Corner:
Regretfully this is the only area available for the Coffee Corner and some find it too small and not private enough. In
regard to later opening hours, unfortunately the demand is not sufficient to prolong the operational hours.

General:
Cheaper Prices was the overall main general comment. We are combating the competition prices with our Price Cut campaigns, and, by offering Weekly Wow Offers, Great Meal Deals as well as running 3 weekly Special Offer Promotions. We constantly run our own in store promotions.  We also actively source local suppliers who can supply us with quality low price products. Don’t forget we shop here ourselves and we like a bargain as much as anyone so we continue to seek them out. Additionally we “Price Match” 1000’s of Every Day Products with Dunne’s & Tesco and 100’s of Every Day Products with Aidi & Lidl. Requests for Childcare, Lotto at every checkout and Clothes Section are unfortunately not feasible at the present time.

Products:
In regard to the products that you requested us to stock: All will be investigated and if they are available and it is feasible to stock them then we’ll certainly give them a try.

On a lighter note:
For those who what staff to go home with them to help them put their shopping away, we’d love to but then who’d look after the store and it’s really not our fault (well maybe just a little because we do love having you here) if some of you get in trouble for taking too long because you’ve stopped for a chat and finally, in regards to having Leonardo Dicaprio working here, he did apply but we just didn’t have a suitable position available at the time.

Well Done:
Many compliments we also recorded, for these we thank you.

Kindle Touch Winner:
Elizabeth O’Gorman – Ballyhooley: Congratulations

Finally we would again like to thank you for completing the questionnaire and for your continued custom and appreciate any comments both now or in the future that may assist us in improving your shopping experience.
